New Water Coolers

As many of you know, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) sent out a media release in December regarding the concerns of the possibility of unsafe amounts of lead in drinking water at some public schools in Nova Scotia.  Our school has not been tested yet, but has been slated for testing in the Summer.  In the meantime, as a precautionary measure, the EECD has provided fresh water coolers for all public schools waiting for testing.  For us that means two coolers that will provide both cool and refreshing water.  Our other fountains have been shut off until further notice and we ask all students to use the new coolers.

Students will require a water bottle of some sort as these coolers do not have a spout where students could drink directly as was the case with our previous fountains.  Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to keep in his/her locker.  It is important to put names on the water bottles as many look similar.

We will keep you up to date on the ongoing testing process and hopefully by next fall we are back to using the great new fountains we recently installed a short while back.  Please reach out to me with any questions.

Thanks,

Scott Wadden
