SCHOOL:

• We will be having a school dance tomorrow fourth and last period of the day.  Students are to bring $2 to attend the dance, and the canteen will be open for purchases of chips and pop.

Parents have three ways to report a student absence in advance:

• Families can call 1-833-582-6940 to report future absences using an automated system. SafeArrival will recognize the phone number calling as long as its the same number listed in the Contact details for that person and the SafeArrival check mark has been checked.
• Families can enter a Full Day Absence or Multiple Day Absence (up to 5 in a row) for the type of absence and must choose Absent With Notification as their reason.
• If the student will only miss part of the day or will be late, the family will record a Full Day Absence and the absence will be adjusted by the main office when the student arrives to school.
• All three methods are available 24/7.

Using SchoolMessenger to Report Student Absences:

Parents and guardians can report students absent prior to the start of the school day using SchoolMessenger.

• Call: 1-833-582-6940 Automated Phone System.  You may be prompted to enter a phone number you provided to the school.

• Website:  School Messenger Icon in PowerSchool.  You will need your portal username and password, or email address you provided to the school.
• 1. Sign in to the PowerSchool Portal https://sishrsb.ednet.ns.ca/public/
• 2. Click SchoolMessenger
• 3. Click the menu in the top-left corner
• 4. Click Attendance
• 5. Make selections and click Send

• App:  SchoolMessenger Dowload.  You will need your email address you provided to the school.

FRIENDLY REMINDER TO PARENTS:

• If you know you will be picking your child up early for an appointment or an early dismissal, please call ahead of time and give the main office enough notice to either collect your child in between classes, or to notify the teacher at the beginning of their class which would help eliminate class interuption.  Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
